B2 Tourist Visa VISITOR VISAS
Applying for a Tourist Visa
Under U.S. law, applicants for visitor visas must qualify on their own for visas to visit the United States.
This is what applicants must do when they apply for visitor visas:
Complete and sign the required application forms;
Bring evidence that their visit is temporary and that they will leave the United States after their legally authorized stay; and
Undergo security clearance procedures
All visa applicants, even babies in their parents' passports, must have these things:
Application Form DS-156
Contact your nearest U.S. embassy or consulate for specific information on:
How to pay fees
How to get an appointment for an interview

The latest information on visa requirements
Consular officers do security checks for all visa applicants. They will make special security clearances for some applicants as required by law. These clearances may take several weeks or longer. Please plan for the possibility of a delay in the issuance of a visa. Make your visa application well in advance of your intended travel.

B-2 Visa is Suitable For:
Tourists on a PERSONAL trip to the U.S., visiting friends and relatives in the U.S., coming to the U.S. for medical treatment, foreign nationals coming to the U.S. to marry a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder, upon establishing to the consular official and the USCIS that after the marriage, they will depart from the U.S., even though intending ultimately to immigrate, athletes, musicians etc. who participate in their respective activities in the U.S. without remuneration, coming to participate in the conventions of social organizations, dependents of alien members of the U.S. armed forces temporarily assigned duty in the U.S., dependents of crewmembers (D visa holders) or B-1 visa holders solely to accompany the principal foreign national, dependents of nonimmigrant for whom no derivative classification is available. Persons to enter the U.S. to apply for special naturalization benefits on the basis of U.S. military service, persons seeking a change to another visa status if they so advise the U.S. Consulate, and if the consulate is fully appraised of the circumstances, U.S. citizens, green card holders and nonimmigrant visa holders to invite their friends and relatives to the U.S.

Immigration and naturalization law is very specialized and requires many years of experience to understand difficult provisions. If you need qualified legal assistance with an immigration matter, contact the New York Attorneys at Robert Aronov & Associates, P.C. today.
